The Park of All Parks in Fort Myers

Have you visited Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers? We’ve dubbed it the “park of all parks” because of its size, beauty, and attractions. In fact, it has become a pillar of many community events in Lee County.

About Lakes Regional Park

Opened in 1984, Lakes Park is operated by the Lee County Department of Parks and Recreation. The name comes from its 158-acres of man-made freshwater lakes on the 279-acres park. The lakes are certainly one of the biggest attractions at the park, in addition to the various gardens, the Farmer’s Market, and the popular miniature train!

What To Do At Lakes Park

Boating & Kayaking

Bring your own kayak or pedal boat - or rent one at the park. Paddling through the lake is a fun adventure for kids and adults, not to mention a great exercise! Many people bring binoculars and look for birds along the way.

Fishing

Fishing is permitted at the park except on the causeway bridges. You can take home what you catch, but catch and release are preferred. You must have a Florida freshwater fishing license or meet one of the exceptions of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Gardening

There are a number of gardens that the Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation maintains. Enjoy the botanical garden, children's garden, community garden, fragrance garden, and succulent garden. There are guided garden walks and hands-on ways to participate in the community garden.

Biking, Jogging, Walking & Fitness

It sounds like hard work, but the beautiful sights keep you distracted during your workout at Lakes Regional Park. Rent a bike or bring your own. New fitness stations have been added along the trail with instructions and obstacles for all fitness levels to enjoy.

Miniature Train Rides

In 1995 the Miniature Railroad opened! The scale model railroad is a 15-minute ride beside the lake, through a tunnel, and past several displays of scale villages and towns. During the holidays, there is a special holiday express train ride that is popular for locals and visitors alike. Visit the Railroad Museum of Southwest Florida website for more information.

Rent a Pavillion

At Lakes Park, there is a lodge, amphitheater, and garden gazebo that you can reserve for the day. Bring food and have a picnic in the park! Pavilions are available to rent online or by calling (239) 533-7578.

Fun For The Kids

Aside from the other attractions, there’s a rock-climbing wall, playground, and a splash park for the kids to enjoy. Throughout the year there are various programs, events, and camps for kids of all ages.

See For Yourself

Now you see why we call it the “park of all parks” right? You could spend hours here and not even hit everything. We hope you get the chance to visit Lakes Regional Park if you haven’t already been. More information about the cost to park, rentals and more can be found on the Lee County website here.

I absolutely love Lakes Park! It's a beautiful and well maintained park, has so much to offer. I lived in Fort Myers for 15 years, I've recently moved back to Tampa. I miss Lakes Park and Fort Myers so much...I would move back in a heartbeat. ❤️
